testing. This was confirmed by the Minister for
Education, Science & Training in late July, 2007.

Early
Years Assessment The early years assessment program uses Performance Indicators in Primary Schools [PIPS] to assess
early reading, phonics and numeracy skills of students in their first year of school. The PIPS data is used to identify, as early
as possible, students who may need extra support or enrichment. The PIPS data helps teachers plan appropriate learning experiences
for every child in the class. There is a downloadable brochure available for parents.

Queensland Certificate of Education The QCE
is Queenslands senior school qualification, which is awarded to eligible students usually at the end of Year 12. The QCE
recognises broad learning options and offers flexibility in what, where and when learning occurs. It also subsumes the
Senior Certificate.
South Australian Certificate of Education - Future The future
SACE is the new South Australian Certificate of Education, which will be introduced from 2009 in Government, Catholic and
Independent schools with senior secondary students. The future SACE will provide a structure for students in Years 10, 11 and
12 to learn key skills and knowledge. The new certificate will build upon the achievements of the current SACE.
Integrated Assessment Program The Integrated
Assessment Program will add to this understanding of child and student learning by aligning all state wide assessment
programs.
National Assessment Program -
Literacy and Numeracy In May 2008 and in future years, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 across Australia will
participate in national tests that will assess their performance in literacy and numeracy.

WA Certificate of Education [Year 12] Mandatory examinations, for the achievement of the WACE will be introduced in 2009, with two examinations for each
