    From the American Council on Fitness. A range of Free exercises to help effective exercise. Designed to ‘create your own workout depending on the amount of time you have and the equipment available to you.’

      [Australian Council for Health, Physical Education & Recreation]
      Opens a world of resources for Physical Education, Health, Dance, etc.. Fee-based, but Australian, relate to the curriculum and provide detailed assistance. Highly recommended for schools.

      ‘Active-Ate is a collection of resources developed by the Queensland Health Tropical Public Health Unit Network to promote physical activity and nutrition in primary schools. It was developed to contribute towards improved health and wellbeing among Australian schoolchildren.’

      Information about Australian sporting organisations [several thousand] plus sporting business and businesses linked to sport.
    • Children’s Health Development Foundation
      Promotes children’s health in school communities. Some specifically South Australian. Covers asthma, nutrition, healthy canteens, active living, professional development, sun protection and more.

    • Cyberschool - Health and Physical Education
      An extensive listing of annotated links for both PE and Health, collated by the University of Queensland Library Cyberschool.
    • Get a Move On !
      Downloadable [.pdf] activity where children maintain a record of activities for a period of 1 week, then work out ways they can improve on this.

      From the Victorian Department, information, much usable in other states and territories.

    • Kew Volleyball
      Particularly useful for those in the relevant Melbourne area. They are the largest volleyball association in Australia.

      From the West Australian DET. ‘Investigate[s] and illustrate[s] the use of learning technologies in enhancing teaching and learning in the Health & Physical Education Learning Area.’ Looks at outcomes, integration of learning technologies and how to use them.
    • Let’s Get Physical
      ‘Confused about how much exercise you really need [or rather, how little you can get away with ?] ABC Health Matters sets the record straight.’
    • Measurement in Sport
      Tabbed directories on. A printer friendly version if you want it. Part of Nova Science from the Academy of Australian Science.
    • National Heart Foundation
      Information on being healthy with a healthy heart. Information for planning health lessons.

      ‘A South Australian initiative to educate children playing sport, to warm up, gear up and drink up.’ This is designed to keep them both safe and healthy. Information for parents, students, teachers and coaches.

      In addition to coaching material, there is a wide range of resources for all aspects of football, from equipment and resources to clothing supplies.
    • Working Wonders
      Belongs to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Queensland. Provides a Fit4Fun program Free to Queensland Schools. Includes indoor and outdoor exercises and other material. If not in Queensland you may be able to negotiate its purchase. Funds raised help children at the hospital.

    155 top matches with a criteria of Health and PE. Interesting linkages e.g. ‘Krooz Controlled’ that is about bicycle, pedestrian, and automotive safety for kids; ‘WhatUDo’ that was to provide updated AIDS information.
  4. Cool Food Planet
    ‘Nutritional information and quizzes for children and adolescents.’ There is also a section for schools & parents. The whole site is well presented.
  5. Dole5aDay
    A US children’s health and nutrition site. Emphasises eating of 5-9 servings of fruit and vegetables a day. Classroom resources in the Teacher’s section and a Reference Centre.

    Find lesson plans ‘divided into Games, Gymnastics, Motor skills, Outdoor education, Skill-related, and Team sports’ areas. From Educator’s Reference Desk.
  7. Field Day Activities
    Running a PE ‘Field’ [curriculum] Day ? Provides PE activities successfully used for this. Each is done in detail, so adopt or adapt as needed.

    Developed by a US government agency, the plan and tracker are designed to help you attain better nutrition. There is a separate section for primary level children.
  13. Narcotics Anonymous
    Judge the value by visiting it yourself. They have given school presentations when dealing with drugs and their dangers. Links to other groups within their organisation.
  14. PE Centre
    UK site run by a private school Head of PE. Some has little Australian relevance.

  15. Physical Education Primary
    A UK based site which has a wealth of material for use with younger children. It is Fee-based [at this time about A$300 a year], but could be considered by a school or group. It has lesson plans, activities, downloads and covers all relevant areas of physical education for this age group. Worthy of consideration.

      ‘Movin’ On is a curriculum management program that provides a library of gym exercises for elementary school students. These exercises are designed for specific pieces of gym equipment and are grouped into individual, partner, and small group exercises.’

    A Belgian site. A database of lesson plans [Free registration], links for sports and skills, ‘Ask the Expert’ [responses and further links], general education and more. If you speak a European language you can further extend your usage.
