      A report from the CSIRO which looks at the options of several population figures for Australia by the year 2050. It takes into account the overall impact on many aspects of both social and environmental impact.

      ‘This gallery has been created to raise awareness of land and water issues in Australia. The gallery is being expanded continually.’ A brilliant collection in a huge range of areas.

      Another amazing site done through PBS in America. The site concentrates on ‘the findings of scientists who are studying the health of our world, as well as stories of ordinary people working to restore the health and well-being of the ecosystems they - and ultimately all of us - depend on.’ It looks primarily at ecosystems, science matters and getting involved.

      ‘An online collection of information regarding the environmental, social, and economic trends that shape our world. Committed to the principle that accurate information drives responsible decisions by governments and individuals, EarthTrends offers the public a large breadth of statistical, graphic, and analytical data in easily accessible formats.’
    • Earthwatch Software
      ‘The first ever Personal Environmental Audit Software [i.e. ecological footprint]. It is still the most comprehensive program for doing a full personal environmental audit. Now Freeware for individual use.’

    • Lomborg, Bjorn
      The author of ‘The Skeptical Environmentalist’, a book which works to ‘debunk’ some of the most cherished environmental beliefs that tell us we are ruining the planet. Worth a review and the book, though dry, is well worth reading. Make up your own mind about what you believe.
    • Palaeomap Project

      A Greenpeace site which looks at the Paradise Forests in Papua-New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. It has information on the effect of the paper and wood industries and also has several Flash movies to view.

      ‘Your Gateway to Rainforest Information and Resources.’ Directories include ‘Why are rainforests important ?’ and ‘What’s happening in the rainforests ?’ plus three more. Each has subsections covering major points. There is also news and much more.

      ‘SERC is dedicated to increasing knowledge of the biological and physical processes that sustain life on earth. Interdisciplinary research applies long-term studies to examine the ecological questions about landscapes of linked ecosystems, especially those impacted by human activities.’
    • Total Environment Centre
      ‘This site provides extensive and easy to understand and navigate reference material, links to other sites and up-to-date campaign information.’

    • National Geographic Wild World
      A joint development by National Geographic and the World Wildlife Fund, which looks at all of the ecoregions on earth and targets the Global 200 - priority areas for conservation.
