In 2008 Queensland schools will implement curriculum, assessment and reporting reforms outlined within the Queensland Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (QCAR). Click here to access information on the QCAR framework In recent years Education Queensland has restructured Yrs1-10 Curriculum within 8 "Key Learning Areas" (KLA's). Each KLA comprises a number of "Strands" or sub areas. Schools are expected to implement the KLA's over a staggered 'Time Line' as Syllabus and support material documents become available. Education Queensland is currently finalising the "Core Curriculum" document which will outline how schools might address the 8 'Key Learning Areas' (KLA's), Assessment and Reporting, and teaching within an 'Outcomes' approach. A link with this site will be established as soon as it is available. At present, schools have the flexibility of arranging their curriculum within individual KLA's or designing a 'meld' or integrated approach with some or all of the KLA's.
