THE HOBBIT by J R Tolkien (Novel)

Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit. Hobbits are generally homebodies and don't like adventures. However, the wizard Gandalf persuades Bilbo to accompany him on a mission to save the dwarves gold. The gold was stolen 600 years ago and now guarded by Smaug an evil dragon on Lonely Mountain.

THE SECRET GARDEN by Frances Hodgson Burnett (Novel)

Mary is an orphan sent home to England from India. Mary doesn't like her new home but befriends a local boy Dickon who loves animals. While investigating the secrets of the strange house, Mary discovers her cousin Colin who is an invalid and a secret garden. Together the three friends restore the secret garden. As the garden returns to life, Colin's health is also miraculously restored.

HITLER'S DAUGHTER
by Jackie French (Novel)

Anna and Mark start telling stories while waiting for the school bus. Anna tells a story about Heidi, Hitler's daughter, who grew up in Germany during World War II and was smuggled out of Germany and sent to Australia at the end of the war. Is Heidi really Hitler's daughter or was it just a story Anna made up?

CAPTAIN MACK by James Roy (Novel)

Danny is being bullied at school. He forms an unlikely friendship with Captain Mack. Captain Mackis an 84 year old war veteran who lives in a nursing home. He thinks his nursing home is a Prisoner of War Camp and convinces Danny to help him escape.
