cru3a Bushwalking & camping trip for November

The Clarence River u3a Bushwalking and Caravan/camping groups are busy organising their combined three-day trip to Girraween National Park for later this month.

The park is located about half way between Tenterfield and Stanthorpe and the journey will take about 3 ½ hours. Girraween NP, like the nearby NSW parks, is a mix of massive granite outcrops, creeks, eucalypt forests, sedgeland and heathland It therefore offers a range of walks, short and long, from quite easy strolls to the base of an outcrop to more strenuous climbs up the same with a wide variety of flora and fauna to be seen along the route.

For the non-bushwalkers there are a number of attractions in the area including markets and of course, wineries, or you can take a couple of books along and just veg out!

As there is no power and generators are prohibited, the evenings will be a great opportunity for members of the two groups to join together around the campfire. If the trip to Dorrigo/Bellingen is anything to go by, then it will be a very special time, one when members get to know each other and enjoy the camaraderie which abounds in cru3a.

Facilities at the Park are basic but comfortable, and boast hot showers and toilets (so, it's not that basic!).
