Much of the work that you will carry out for the remainder of your school life will require you to use digital resources more and more. You may need scan an image into the computer or take an image from the Internet.

Screen Dumps

A screen dump is essentially a photograph taken of the screen which is placed into the computers memory ready to be pasted into a program.

To take a screen dump all you need to do is press the Print Screen button on the keyboard. It is located next to the F12 button at the top of the keyboard.

Now if you open Paint Shop Pro you can paste the image by going to the edit menu, selecting Paste and then paste as new image from the side menu. This will paste the entire screen into PSP, allowing you to cut and paste the section of the screen you wanted.

Scanning

You can scan an image into the computer by opening PSP on the computer which has the scanner, then go up to the file menu and select aquire.. .The scan window will open which will allow you to scan the image.

Your teacher will show you how to use the scan window.

Task

For this essential you are required to take a screen dump of a web page and scan an image from a magazine or book.

Save the images as ess5a.jpg and ess5b.jpg.

You are then to copy and paste image into a Works or Word document and print it out. Save your file as ess5. Do not forget your header and footer.

Remember to not spend to much time working on this exercise, it is just to help you with your next task.
