Where can I find Microsoft Word?

Go to the document from which you wish to copy the
information. Highlight the information by holding down
the left button and dragging the mouse. If you require
all of the information on a page you may also use the
Select All function from the edit menu.
From the edit menu select copy.
Open the target word document. This is where you want
to put the copied information. If it is a new page, select
new from the file menu.
Select paste from the edit menu.
All types of data can be copied in this way including
text, tables, graphs, pictures and word-art. Simply
highlight this frame containing the data and follow the
procedure above.

Go to the pull down tables menu. Select insert. This will
allow you to choose the number of rows and columns.
Once you have made your table you can select it and all
of its contents using select table on the table menu.
Then you can add or change its borders by clicking
borders and shading on the format menu.
You can always add another row to the bottom of your
table using the Tab key. The new row will have the same
format as the previous row.
Tables are very effective tools for presenting
information. Put your information into tables without
borders. This will give you much greater control over
its presentation.

Word-art is just a way of putting fancy headings onto
your page. It allows you full choice of fonts plus a
stack of other features such as writing text in
different directions.
To add word-art to a document access the insert menu
on the main toolbar. Then click on pictures and then on
word-art. Look for the word-art icon below.

Alternatively, you can add word-art as a toolbar icon.
This may be achieved by choosing the tools menu on the
main toolbar. Then choose customize. On the pop-up
menu which appears select the toolbars tab and tick
the box marked word-art. A word-art menu should now
be on your screen. Access it at any time by clicking on
the word-art icon.
Once you have accessed word-art simply follow the
instructions given.

A hyperlink is a way of connecting to other documents,
website addresses and e-mail addressed. Hyperlinks use
HyperText Markup Language (HTML) to link to another
address. The address is like a person's home address. It
tells you where to find them. HTML is the language of
the web, it's what all the websites you see on the
internet use.
Microsoft Word allows the user to add a hyperlink.
Simply select insert from the main toolbar, then choose
hyperlink from the drop down menu. Complete the pop-up
menu to create your hyperlink. You can also add a link
by selecting the hyperlink icon from the main menu.

A hyperlink can be directed to a webpage's address, a
page on another document or to an e-mail address.

Any page created on Microsoft Word can be saved as a
web page. This means that all the necessary HTML is
automatically created for you. It is quite easy to do,
simply select save as a web page from the file menu.

When two or more pages are saved in this manner they
can be linked using hyperlinks as described above.

Equation editor
By far the most useful tool for a mathematician is the
equation editor. This lets you add mathematical symbols
and notations to a document. This is a very necessary
tool when typing out exams.
To access equation editor, start by selecting insert on
the main toolbar, then select object. A pop-up menu will
appear giving you a list of add-in's to choose from.
Choose Equation Editor.

come with their own in-built help pages.
