Any standard word processor software
can be used to give a very effective
presentation. Below you will find some
useful tips.
There are quite a number of very good word
processors currently available. In most High Schools
the easiest application to obtain is Microsoft Word.
The features described below are common to most
word processors.
In Microsoft Word you have the options of including
text, headings, word-art, graphs, tables, lines, shapes,
clip art pictures, photographs and even hyperlinks on
a page.
Text can be added to a page in a few different ways.
you can simply have the students type it in.
If you have researched your information on the
internet the students will be able to copy and paste
the text directly from the webpage to the document.
This should also be possible for information
researched on a CD-ROM.
You can also import text from elsewhere. eg text saved
on a floppy disk.
Pictures can be added to a page in a number of ways.
They can be added using the clip-art feature.
Photographs can be scanned in and added, or you
might be able to borrow your school's digital camera.
If the work involved numerical data, this can be added
in the form of a table, spreadsheet or graph.
For the technologically advanced teacher, consider
adding a hyperlink to a page. For example, make a
worksheet setting out a problem and add a hyperlink
to the bottom of the page which will direct the
students to a site with relevant information.
