2002 hare and hound handicap results

Hare and Hound is our monthly 6km handicap race. We race on the first Saturday of each month starting at 7:00am from the mouth of Oxley Creek, going up the Brisbane River to turn at the Indooroopilly Bridge and returning to the start. Handicaps are based on the personal best time from the previous 6 months. Members of other clubs are most welcome to attend. First three across the line win CHOCOLATE! We follow each Hare and Hound with a BYO Breakfast BBQ.

Results for the month December 2002 (in finish order) 19 boats were on the water for this Hare and Hound Handicap which was run under probably the slowest tidal conditions with the start occurring right at the bottom of the tide. And the wind picked up just as most were turning at the bridge which made a return trip against wind AND tide! The handicapping system seems to be working well with 9 boats finishing within 30 seconds at one stage... just to keep the timekeeper busy - I want a printout stopwatch! Doug Catran established a new time in the TK1 - which he paddled faster than the K1! Welcome to Paul Matulick - another ex-Mt Isan (so is the Web Editor). Janice and Bronwyn had their first H&H in a TK2 - well done ladies! A few paddlers seem to be making comebacks as their faces have not been so familiar around Hare and Hound time of late - good on you Mike, Jennie (who's nursing injuries) and Manuella.
