Superb Blue Wren
(Malurus cyaneus)


Description
This litle bird measures 14 cm, including the tail. The adult male has a blue head and tail which is shown in the picture. The female is a brownish colour. Their tails always stick up and when they move about they hop and do not walk.

Voice
Their call is like a musical trill

Food
They mainly eat small insects.
 

Nest
Its nest is usually near the ground, and well hidden in thick bushes. It is dome- shaped and made out of fibres, grass and cobwebs and lined with feathers. It has a side entrance.

Habitat
It lives in woodland and scrub.

Behaviour
It does not fly very well. Superb Blue Wrens tend to stay together in family groups.
