Common Bronzewing
(Phaps Chalcoptera)

Description
The common bronzewing is a pigeon with a brown back, pinkish underparts and a brown tail.The wings look brown from a distance, but are multi-coloured in good light.

Voice
Their call is a deep "oom", which is repeated.

Habitat
It prefers native bushland and can be found in the hills. It can also be seen in parks, but avoids people.

Nest
It builds a flat platform nest out of twigs in trees.

Flight
Bronzewings are fast flyers.

Behaviour
It is a watchful bird and stays in the trees out of sight during the day.
