New Holland Honeyeater
(Phylidonyris novaehollandiae)


Description
It has a black head with white markings. Its wings and tail are black with patches of yellow. It has a thin beak that curves downwards.

Voice
It is a noisy bird and its calls have a hissing tone, that sounds like "swist" or "sw-swist"

Food
It eats nectar from native plants.

Habitat
It can be found along the coast and in the hills

Nest
The New Holland Honeyeater nests right through the year. In the summer it builds its nest inside bushes to keep cool in the shade and in the winter it builds on the outside of a bush to catch the sun.

Behaviour
It travels and feeds in small groups.
