Rainbow Lorikeet
(Trichoglossus haematodus)

Appearance
The Rainbow Lorikeet has a red bill, blue head, green upperparts, a reddish gold breast and a blue belly.

Habitat
It is found along the Eastern coasts of Australia, from the North to the South.

Feeding
It feeds on blossoms, nectar and 
pollen. It has a brush-shaped tongue to help it gather the pollen and nectar. It also eats fruit, seeds and insects.

Nests
It makes its nest in tree hollows. It lays 2 white eggs that take 28 days to hatch.

Voice
It makes a sort of sharp screeching sound.

Behaviour
They are fast flying and often fly in flocks, searching for flowering trees.
