Australian Shelduck
(Ocyphaps lophotes)


Description
The Australian Shelduck has an orange throat and black wings with a bit of orange on them too.
It also has white around its neck and on its back

Voice
Its cry sounds like 'chank, chank'

Flight
When they fly they have a pattern under their wings which shows only then.

Nest
Their nest is made up of dried grasses and lined with down.

Food
They eat small animals like  shrimp and insects.

Behaviour
They are very shy and are usually in large flocks after the mating season
