Silver Gull
(Larus Novaehollandiae)

Description
The Silver Gull is 40-42cm. The familiar seagull is white with pale silver- grey underparts. The wings have black tips and are marked with white spots. The tail is white and the bill and legs are red. the eye is whitish. Young Silver Gulls have rows of brown speckles on their wings and dark tips on tail feathers. Their legs and bills are black. 

Voice
Their harsh calls are known as a short 'kaow'.

Flight
They usually fly in big flocks.

Food
Silver Gulls usually scavenge through garbage dumps and are known to catch live prey.

Nest
A hollow either naturally formed or scratched in the ground. It nests in colonies on offshore islands.
