Tawny Frogmouth
(Podargus strigoides)


Appearance
The Tawny Frogmouth is about 32-56 cm tall. It is a nocturnal bird. It has a large head and staring eyes.

Voice
The sound they make is a low booming “oom...oom...oom...oom... sound. 

Flight
They are pale grey under their wings and have a large wing span when they fly.

Feeding
They eat mice, rats, frogs, lizards and insects.

Habitat
They live anywhere with trees.

Nests
They build their nests in hollow trees.

Behaviour
They fly alone most of the time and they fly low to get their prey

Breeding
They breed in flocks and lay about 4-8 eggs every year.
