Long-tailed Pea-blue - Lampides boeticus

The Long-tailed Pea-blue butterfly  has a wingspan of about 25mm. It is very common and occurs in most parts of Australia. It has a wide range of host plants, and is common in urban areas. The larvae feed on numerous native and non-native pea plants, including garden peas and beans, sweet peas and lupins. The larvae prefer to eat the inner parts of buds and flowers, and the young seeds within developing seed pods. It is sometimes considered a pest for these reasons.
