White-banded Grass-dart - Taractrocera papyria

The White-banded Grass-dart is very small butterfly with a wingspan of only about 20mm and is smaller than a bee. It can fly very quickly and can be difficult to see. It can be found in hot tropical climates as well as cooler temperate ones.  It likes feeding on the small flowers of herby plants. Its foodplants are leafy grasses that stay moist and green during summer and grow in sunny areas. The female lays her eggs on grass. It particularly likes kikuyu and veldt grass.
