Pattern Fun

This activity, using KidPix as a learning and thinking tool, has been aligned with the SACSA frameworks and is intended to provide the learning described below.

BAND - Early Years - Primary Years

LEARNING AREAS STRANDS OUTCOMES

Design and Technology Designing 1.3, 2.3
ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS EVE: Key Competencies LIT., NUM. AND ICT
F, T, C,   KC1, KC2, KC3, KC5, KC6, KC7 Num, ICT

KEY IDEAS
Mathematics
Students identify, describe, construct, represent and predict patterns and relationships when working with data, measuring and calculating. They relate these patterns and relationships to their everyday lives.

Students employ everyday language and mathematical symbols to represent and communicate their generalisations about mathematical situations and structures.

Design and Technology
Students reflect on their own work by clarifying and communicating their design ideas and their thinking and planning for products, processes and systems. They use effective design communication methods, including appropriate digital and electronic technologies.

STUDENT TASKS
Use the KidPix stamps and make six different patterns of 2, 3, 4 or more. Repeat the patterns at least twice.
