About Me

I am teaching and learning at Woodcroft Primary School in Adelaide's South. My very exciting position is
"Assistant Principal - Learning in the Digital Age". The adventure is well under way! The job allows me to play and learn along with teachers, students and others.
During 2007 I have begun to study for my Educational Doctorate through Flinders University in Adelaide.

I attended and presented at the World Conference of Computers in Education in July 2005 in Stellenbosch, South Africa and had the amazing opportunity to experience an African safari during my time there.
Check out the conference page here.

ON SAFARI
These photos were taken on safari in Africa and show myself with a young African girl called Talenta, Donna and I with our friend on the morning safari where we had breakfast with a pair of elephants as well as the cheetah we tracked with the broken tail and the rhinoceros at sunrise which was one of a family of 3. What an amazing experience!

After returning to Adelaide in July 2005 I spent 6 months working at Saint Aloysius College in the city and had a Year 6 class with an Interactive Whiteboard in the room. SAC have certainly approached the integration of the Smartboards very thoughtfully with due consideration to the importance of curriculum integration as more important than the novelty value of the new technology.

From 2003 until July 2005 I was teaching  at Aspendale Gardens Primary School in Melbourne. This young school was filled with fantastic and enthusiastic staff who are leading the way with the Integration of Information and Communications Technology through a range of directions including being selected as a 'CeLL' (Creating e-learning Leaders) school - a project of ongoing professional development for staff within and beyond the local school community. I also enjoyed the collegiality of the work I was doing with I.C.T.E.V. as a State Council Member. (I have since returned to the CEGSA committee in South Australia.) I trained as an Intel Master Trainer and really appreciated the chance to work with other teachers through training, professional development and a range of conferences. I have been a presenter at State and National level as well as the recent World Conference in Africa.

I taught in Adelaide from August 99 until February 2003. During 2002 I worked as ICT coordinator at West Beach Primary School.
I was a Discovery Network Teacher during 2001 and used some of my time exploring improvements to student learning through teacher development. I became particularly interested in students as tutors.
I completed my Masters in Educational Computing at the
University of South Australia in 2001.

I love the colour Purple.
I am into gadgets - who else do you know who has a purple USB drive? It holds 128MB and is tiny.
IT HAS SINCE CRASHED!! LESSON: ALWAYS BACKUP EVERYTHING! Have upgraded to a 512MB silver one! All things change. Now have 1GB!
