 | Inserting images in FP is
easy. Controlling how they look is more important and so is how long
they take to load.
 | You can use an image of
your own, in which case you would Insert Picture from File.
 | Make sure the file is
not too big (in kilobytes) as well as in page size. |
 | If you are using a
digital photo, then you don't need a top quality photo.
Choose the lowest setting on your digital camera if you are
taking the photo yourself. Ideally you want a photo less
than about 60K |
 | If you are scanning
the photo, then use 75 dpi on the scanner. Make sure you use
only the part of the photo you want. |
 | On the bottom bar of
your FP page, on the right, you will see a small hour glass
icon. This will tell you how long your page will take
to load over a standard modem. |
|
 | You can use an image from
Clip Art |
|

|
Control the location
of the image by putting it in the cell of a table.
The 'handles' that appear when
you click on an image will assist you in 'sizing' it on the page. |
 | When you save the page, FP
will show you its name for the image. It is really important
to Rename the image file with a name that you will recognise later.
 | Now when you look at the
Folders List, you will see the name of the image listed with
your files. |
 | You will also see that FP
set up an images folder when it set up the web (you probably
noticed that before) |
 | Drag the image you have
saved into the images folder. FP will rename the location in
your page. |
 | Always put all your images
in the images folder. |
|
|
 | Managing images in other ways.
 | If you right mouse click
on an image you will find Picture Properties and be able to
choose Appearance and Alignment. |
 | If a picture is too large
you can display a thumbnail of it. Auto-thumbnail is the third
icon from the left on Picture tool bar. The tool automatically
creates a link to the full image. |
|
|
|

|
This is a thumbnail of
the original picture, but if you click on it it will be taken to the
original picture |
|

|
When a picture has a
white background like the original of this one, you can set a
transparency colour. Simply click on the picture, click on the
blue crayon in the Picture tool bar, and then click on the white part of
the picture. |
|

|
If the picture is not
'facing' the way you want it to, then you can rotate it with the 'flip
horizontal' tool on the Picture toolbar. |
