 | One of the biggest mistakes that people
make when setting up a web site is that when they create their links
to their other pages, the link specifies a location on their C:
drive.
e.g. C:\kerrie\presentations\links.htm
specifies the exact address of this file on the C: drive. This
means that when you activate the hyperlink, the computer will search
the C: drive for the file. |

 | If you are using Front Page's 'web'
feature then this is less likely to happen. Most links will be to
another page that you can see in your folder list. All your images
should be in your images folder or in subfolders.
When you move file into a folder then Front Page will change the
hyperlinks if necessary. You do need then to ensure that you
save the pages. |
 | If you have obeyed the basic rules of
using short meaningful file names in lower case and no spaces or
special punctuation, then you will have prevented the cause of many
other hyperlink problems. |
 | You can create a hyperlink easily by
highlighting the text you wish to link to, and using ctrl-K, or the
hyperlink icon on the menu toolbar or Insert hyperlink. |
 | Hyperlinks to a file on the Internet
should always use http:// |
