School name/class Description
Moonta Area School, Reception and Year 1. Miss Hier

Hello! We are from Miss Hier’s class at Moonta Area School. We are in reception and year 1. The total number of people in our class is 16, but we have 4 more people starting from kindy soon. Moonta is in South Australia on the Yorke Peninsula. This term we are learning about dinosaurs.

Our class has a bear that we take in turns to take home and write a diary about what bear does. We think we are going to be good at writing a diary for Shirley Valentine because we have had some practise.

Mrs Williams
This year as a part of the 'International Year of Freshwater' , we are focussing on our local river, the Onkaparinga River, which flows through our township. We have participated in the Cleanup Australia Schools Day, cleaning around the river edges in the town and made posters for shopping centres for World Environment Day. We have also participated in many activities run by the 'Onkaparinga WaterWatch Programme' Communities Caring for the Catchment.  Some activities have included Macro Madness, Act-A-Catchment, Gutter Guardians, Funky Fish and a great visit to the local wetlands at Perry Bend by the whole school. Later in the year we will plant trees and be involved in Frog Frenzy and we are really looking forward to that.

Bye for now
