There are three orphans called Violet, Klaus and Sunny. They went to their distant uncle’s house, Doctor Montgomery, Professor of snakes and reptiles because their parents died in a fire. They went to live with Count Olaf but Count Olaf tried to steal their enormous fortune left by their parents. So the children moved to doctor Montgomery’s house. Count Olaf killed Doctor Montgomery to try and steal the children’s fortune once again but didn’t succeed. This is a great story for 9 year olds and up and I recommend you read the first book because the story follows on. by Alana, Year 5 |

“Somewhere Around the Corner” is an exciting novel, written by Jackie French. It is a children’s fiction book based on the time of the depression in Australia, 1932. A girl called Barbara is caught in a demonstration and she can’t find her friends. She speaks to an old man, he tells her that all you need to do is shut your eyes and picture yourself walking around the corner. Barbara did precisely that: she walked ‘somewhere around the corner’… into another demonstration… another time. by Rikki, Year 5 |
