Differentiation - product rule

To differentiate a product, use the product rule:

• 1st  x  derivative of 2nd    +    2nd  x  derivative of 1st

The example below includes the use of the chain rule.
 

If you just wanted the gradient of the tangent at a particular point, there would be no reason to simplify and factorise.
