Born on June 12, 1929, Anne Frank
was a German-Jewish teenager who was forced to go into hiding during the
Holocaust. She and her family, along with four others, spent 25 months
during World War II in an annex of rooms above her father’s office in
Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After
being betrayed to the Nazis, Anne, her family, and the others living with
them were arrested and deported to Nazi concentration camps. Nine months
after she was arrested, Anne Frank died of typhus in March of 1945 at
Bergen-Belsen. She was fifteen years old.
The Holocaust/Genocide Project (HGP) is an international, non-profit, telecommunications project focusing on study of the Holocaust and other genocides. The purpose of the HGP is to promote education and awareness, and to encourage the application of this knowledge in a way which makes a positive difference in the world.

The Reach & Teach Group consists of several Holocaust
survivors, their offspring's and educators located in various parts of the
country. Their primary aim is to reach out to individuals, particularly
the younger generation, and to teach, educate and inform them about the
Holocaust, the Kinder transport and related World War II historical facts.
In November 1977, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre was founded. Today, together with its world renowned Museum of Tolerance, it is a 400,000 member strong international
centre for Holocaust remembrance, the defence of human rights and the Jewish people.
'Projects sometimes begin in unexpected ways. In April of 1995 I attended the opening of an exhibit of Holocaust photographs at the Ramat-Gan Museum in the suburbs of Tel-Aviv. I came with a friend, Eric Saul, who had brought the photographs to Israel.

Holocaust History Project is a free archive of documents, photographs,
recordings, and essays regarding the Holocaust, including direct
refutation of Holocaust-denial.
The U.S. Holocaust
Memorial Museum Archives’ online catalogue provides a means for
searching and retrieving information for collections in its current
holdings. The system allows the user to search the catalogue by keyword,
personal name, Library of Congress Subject Heading, and geographic place
name. Help information is provided for search strategies and printing of catalogue
information.
Stories of World War II written by a veteran (still living) who
fought in those battles. The site has received the Gold 4 Star Award of the
American War Library.
'In 1942 my father, George Rarey, a young
cartoonist and commercial artist, was drafted into the Army Air Corps. He
flew a P-47 before he drove a car. During his service he kept a cartoon
journal of the daily life of the fighter pilots. A few weeks after D-Day
he was killed in combat over France. His journals are a part of his legacy
to me -- one that I want to share with others through this Web page.'

World
History Sites - This site has links to a large number of various
history sites.
A subject sampler to get students interested in China. It
serves as a good example of a subject sampler, which is one of the strategies
that you might use with students for any topic that you are studying. It will
take a little bit of experience of the net before you are comfortable with
making your own.
A WebQuest about China. It may be useful
for you to use itself, and also serves as a good example of the kind of
directed activities that you can do on the Internet. Many such activities
are available for your use, having been designed by other teachers. Once
you're comfortable with the net, you can start to create them yourself.
An internet Treasure Hunt in which
students find out a lot of background information about China. You may
like to use this one, particularly after the Subject Sampler and before
the WebQuest. You may like to make your own, at the Filamentality
site.
'The Golden Age of Chinese Archaeology' is a landmark
exhibition on view at the Gallery through January 2, 2000. It illustrates
the achievements of Chinese culture through the presentation of
masterpieces dating from the Neolithic Period through Five Dynasties (5000
B.C. to A.D. 924). Many of these masterpieces were discovered in the last
twenty years.
