The rules for playing a chat room story game are simple. The idea is to
prolong the game for as long as possible, adding a gazillion twists and
turns. Anyone in the chat room can add to the story at any time.
Disney
Chat Studio
Disney's celebrity chats cover lots of territory with guests such as
Disney Chairman Michael Eisner, award-winning authors, famous pop

Storytelling
Racoons
From Mars
War is a horrible thing. But the war with the Raccoons
from Mars was the most horrible of all. Mostly because no one is quite
sure what really happened ... or if it happened. This illustrated
science-fiction fantasy for middle-schoolers is not linear, but full of
hyperlinks that lead you to meander through the story line.
Secrets
at Sea
In this educational adventure story for grades four
through seven, the reader steps into the 'starring role of Ace,
assistant investigator to Paula Pacific, who is assigned to examine
unusual behaviours noticed in killer whale populations in the
Alanamorris Strait.'
Storybook
Station
This is a treasure trove for pre-schoolers and early
readers. Storybook Station houses customized stories for reading-aloud
and printing out. Answer a few questions ('My first name is ...' 'I am a
..' 'Two of my neighbourhood friends are ...') and you'll be treated to
an illustrated story, personalized just for you. )
Wacky Web Tales
To complete a Wacky Web Tale, fill in the blanks as
requested (a noun, an adjective, a boy's name, a verb ending in -ing.)
In addition to tales created by the publisher Houghton Mifflin, there is
also a ninety-day archive of tales written by readers like you.

Domains
Bonus.com
Bonus.com has created a protected environment for kids
by taking control of the browser window and eliminating all links to the
rest of the Web. Their NetScooter software hides your browser' s control
icons, replacing it with their own buttons to move forward, backward,
print, and save a favourite link. Registration is optional, but if
you do register you can save your game scores and rank.
FreeZone
FreeZone's most popular features are the free home page
construction kit, monitored chat rooms (both open chats and those
devoted to topics such as Music & Movies or Homework Help) and their
e-pal program. But unregistered users can only look around. In
order to participate, you must register. twelve set.

Learning To Search
Homework

Want an introduction to searching techniques? Need to understand the
difference between the Boolean operators "AND" and
"OR"? Looking for a definition of "keyword?" Look no
further. This guide to searching the Net covers all the basics, introduces
a few search engines and concludes with a virtual Internet scavenger
hunt.
Yahooligans
The first Internet directory just for kids is possibly still the best.
Created by the folks at Yahoo!, Yahooligans! is strictly speaking not a
search engine, but a searchable, browsable Internet index. Each listing is
handpicked by a human (not an automated computer program) and placed in
their hierarchy under one of eight main categories (such as Around the
World, Art Soup or School Bell).

Pirates
Discovery
Online Pirate Ghosts
Some of the most feared pirates of all time are coming back to life.
Blackbeard is back, and Black Sam Bellamy, who raided ships throughout the
Caribbean, is probably more famous now than he was in his heyday. Both
have been revived through sunken ships.
National
Geographic Pirates
'Ahoy! Have ye heard the secret of this ramshackle inn where ye'r
lodgin? They say it's full of booty but nobody's been able to find it.'
Join this interactive adventure, and while looking for the loot, you'll
unearth tales of real pirates woven into the story line.
Pirates Homepage
This pirate potpourri, from the second and fifth grade students of
Rochedale State School in Queensland Australia, includes reports on famous
pirates such as Bartholomew Roberts and Anne Bonny, pirate limericks,
pirate stories, pirate book reports, and pirate treasure maps. Do not miss
the fun Pirate Treasure Hunt, complete with a certificate to print when
you find the booty.
Pirates,
Privateers and Buccaneers
Although the word 'pirate' is the one most commonly used today, in the
seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, many additional and more specific
terms were used. For example, a privateer also plundered ships, but
carried with him a letter of marque signed by a king or other head of
state, granting him the right to attack enemy ships. And a buccaneer was a
non-Spanish European sailor who settled in the West Indies and raided
Spanish ships. For an interesting view into the pirate's life, read the
Pirate Rules of Conduct -- which include formalized workers' compensation
(see rule VIII.)
Pirates
ThinkQuest
This student-created site is cleverly divided into Fact (where you'll
find history, a time line, vocabulary and even a section on modern
software piracy) and Legend (with lists of books, movies and pirate
poetry.)
Treasure Pirates
of the Whydah
Barry Clifford searches for the true story of pirate Black Sam Bellamy
and his sweetheart Maria Hallett, and the location of Bellamy's sunken
