Connect Hardware Peripherals
Activity 1 - Peripheral Devices
Create a new Word document using the IT Template and save it as Connect Hardware Peripherals. Copy the questions below under the heading Peripheral Devices.
Your teacher will read through some text on Peripherals. Answer the questions below as you listen.
- Find the definition of a Peripheral?
- What does a typical computer system consist of?
- How many peripherals can you see on the computer in front of you? Name them.
- Where are peripherals connected?
- List the ESSENTIAL peripherals?
- List 4 OPTIONAL peripherals that could be used to extend the capabilities of a computer.
- What is the difference between INPUT and OUTPUT devices?
- Provide an OPTIONAL and ESSENTIAL device for each.
- What is a DEVICE DRIVER?
Activity 2 - Computer Connections
- Complete the Computer Connections Activity
- In the word document you created in Activity 1, put the heading Computer Connections
- Insert a table with three columns and the headings:- Cable, Port, Description
- Copy each of the pictures from the Computer Connections activity page and paste them into the first column. Each picture should be on a new row.
- Use the internet to find a picture for the corresponding port on a computer and paste these in the second column
- In the third column, type some information about the connection. Be sure to include its name, any special features / advantages / disadvantages of the connection, examples of devices that plug in using this port.
