About Sound Studio

Sound Studio is a budjet software sequencer package from Evolution. You can download a demo version of the program from Evolution.

A Sequencer is a software application used for creating, editing and arranging music to create finished songs. It turns your computer into a Multitrack Tape recorder, with similar capabilities of a professional recording studio.

A sequencer usually records MIDI information such as the NOTE PITCH, its' ON time, LENGTH and VELOCITY (how hard it was pressed). As with most sequencer packages these days, Sound Studio allows for the combination of both MIDI and Digital Audio data.

Sound Studio has one added benefit in that it has a useful CHORD TRACK feature, similar to the Key West program, where an auto accompaniment to a song can be created by entering its CHORDS and selecting a STYLE. You can also choose a VARIATION STYLE for each section of your music.

Activity 1: Using The Chord Track

The Hayman Island Resort was so impressed with your arrangement of Island In The Sun that they have enlisted your services once again!

This time, they require some romantic dinner music for their A la Carte restaurant. They have sent you the sheet music for a song called And I Love Her and want you to arrange it in a smooth, romantic style... You get the picture!! ;-)

You are going to have to pull out the Big Guns for this one! Use the CHORD TRACK feature in Sound Studio to generate a backing and enter the melody using the SCORE EDITOR once you have finished.

Choose the instruments and musical styles carefully to ensure that you create the required atmosphere.
