Course Information

The Music Technology Course (at Ashfield Boys' High School) is a school developed course which has been endorsed and certified by the NSW Board of Studies. The course is highly significant as it was written especially for Stage 5 students at Ashfield Boys High School to commence in 2002. It is a 2 year course offered in Years 9 and 10, and is unique to Ashfield Boys High School.

Course Outline

In Year 9 students will:

  • Develop a knowledge and understanding of ways technology is used to create music
  • Use a range of software packages to create original music
  • Learn to use the internet as an effective music tool and resource, and create basic websites
  • Compose, record and mix songs using a computer
  • Produce a CD of original songs

In Year 10 Students will:

  • Continue to create music using a range of software packages
  • Continue to use the internet as an effective music tool and resource, and create basic websites
  • Create basic websites, libraries and digital portfolios
  • Explore possibilities in digital audio manipulation. Eg. sampling, sound design, hard disk recording
  • Explore the multimedia applications of technology and create multimedia works
  • Produce a CD of original songs and multimedia works
