Why is Patrick's mother so concerned about him going sailing?

Patrick's mother is so concerned about him going sailing because there might be a tidal wave and he might fall overboard and drown. There would be no one to save him out in the ocean. She would be very sad.

We think that he had not been taught and his mum thought he could not sail.

Patrick decides to write his father a letter about his sailing lessons ...what do you think he might have written?

Dear Dad, You'll never guess what I'm doing... I'm learning to sail. I felt nervous at first but now I enjoy it. There is a nice girl from the shack nearby who ios teaching me. She is a really good sailor and sails on her own. Sailing is scary sometimes especially when I have to learn over the edge of the boat. Can't wait for my next lesson. Love Patrick

Dear Dad,
I am writing you a letter about my sailing lessons. I got stranded on an island.
It was called Fort Island. A helicopter came with my mum in it and she
was cross because I went too far out.

Dear Dad, Today I had my first sailing lesson with a girl called Lou. I learned that I had to watch out for the boom because if I get hit by it it could knock me out. I also found out that if you want to go to the right you have to steer the rudder to the left. It's confusing but I think I'll be able to do it. I was worried that if we turned too quickly I might fall off and I kept looking out for ships. I'd hate to get run over. Love Patrick

Why did Patrick's Dad think that the helicopters were not safe?
His dad didn't think they looked safe because they were windmills. They wouldn't take off but scoot across the ground. He was trying to be funny.
Mundulla Rappers
Patrick's dad thinks that the helicopters were not safe because he is afraid that Patrick might fall off the rope hanging from the helicopter to rescue him. Also when there are storms on the ocean the helicopters get blown into the sea and they blow up and sink to the bottom of the ocean and rust away.

How do you think Patrick explained what had happened to the police?
What do you think they would do to him?
Patrick explained to the police and said that he had to help his friend save his
brother and they got into trouble. His friend's brother forgot his puffer in the
storm .It was dangerous because he had an asthma attack. The police told him to
ring for help next time.
