"There was once a baby koala so soft and round that all who saw her loved her. Her name was Koala Lou."

Koala Lou's mother loved her dearly and looked after her very carefully.
Think about all the things your mother does to look after you and make a list of them.
Which one do you think is the most important? Why?
Is that the same one that your friends also chose?
Make a class picture that shows all the sorts of things that mums do to look after their children.

Now think about the sorts of things Koala Lou's mum would have to do to look after her and her brothers and sisters.
Would she have to do the same sorts of things your mum does?
Let's find out about koalas so we can see the sorts of things Koala Lou's mum might have done.

You will have to get your teacher to help you do this activity but you can help your teacher by showing her what to do!

1. Click on this little koala.

2.Put your cursor (which is the arrow head) on the drawing of the koala.

3.Click with the right button of your mouse to get a menu. Click on the word "Copy"

4. Open KidPIx, click on "Make a Picture", then click on "edit" then click on 'paste"

5. Now the picture is ready for you to colour using the KidPix tools.

6. When you have finished colouring, you can print it.

7. Is there any more information that you know about koalas that you can add to the picture?

Koala Lou decided to enter the gumtree-climbing events of the Bush Olympics because koalas are very good at climbing. Have a look at why they are.

1. Click on this little koala.

2. Have a look at the picture of the koala's feet. Look at the claws and the pads that help them to climb and the way the toes are able to curl around the branches. That's why Lou thought she would be good at the tree climbing event.

Even though Koala Lou won't be at the Sydney Olympics, some of her friends will be.
