But Grandma Poss had forgotten the spell!.

What does invisible mean?
Why do you think that Hush wanted to be invisible?
Why did Grandma Poss want her to be invisible?
What were some of the things that Hush could do when she was invisible?
What sorts of things could you do if you were invisible?

Write a story that starts If I were invisible I could .....

Look at how Julie Vivas has drawn Hush when she is invisible.
Can you illustrate your story using the same technique?

What do you think was in the spell that Grandma Poss made?

What sorts of ingredients could she find in the bush to put into it?

Write your own version of Grandma Poss's spell,
but don't forget the secret ingredient that made Hush invisible!

Make a table that shows the places which Grandma Poss and Hush visited
as they travelled around Australia looking for the secret ingredient,
and what they ate in each place.

Display a large map of Australia and mark each place.
Use a length of ribbon to trace the journey they took.
What was the order of their journey?
Which state is each city in?
Which state do you live in?
Did they come to your town?

Each state has its own special flag and emblem.
Go to
Ausflag to find out about each flag,
and then go to
Burkes Backyard
to find out about the special plants and animals for each state.

Hold a class Possum Party with all Hush's favourite foods.

Find the recipes for lamingtons, ANZAC biscuits and pavlova
at
Possum Magic and get a grownup to help you make them.
You can find more of Hush's favourite recipes in The Grandma Poss Cookbook.

Divide your classroom into the states of Australia
and taste all the different treats as you travel around.

Take some photos of your party and share them with other classes
doing the same thing. Put the photos they send to you on your wall map.
And don't forget to send them to
Read Around Australia so we can share
them with everybody.

Find out about possums at The Possum Page.
Can you find the answers to these questions?
Which is the most common possum that we see in Australia?
Where would be a good place to look for a possum?
What do possums really like to eat?
Is a possum a marsupial? How do you know?

Use the description of the possum to draw your own picture.

Send a Possum Postcard to one of the other classes taking part
and tell them what you have been doing! Perhaps you could even send
a Possum Pal who could email you about his adventures.
