Tashi and the Giants
The giant Chintu promises his friend the dragon that he will catch Tashi and punish him for putting the dragon's fire out.

1. If you were one of the villagers, would you

  • give Tashi up to the giant
  • hide him
  • tell Tashi to run away and hide
  • tell the giant that Tashi had moved to a village on the other side of the mountain?

     Why?

We would tell Tashi to run and hide so he would be safe.
Anna and Sunny, St Lukes Rappers
We decided to tell the giant that Tashi had moved to the other side of the mountain. We chose this answer because the giant would be tricked, Tashi would survive and the giant might get lost.
St Josephs Laurieton

The Bandits
Tashi is taken by a gang of bandits. Can he escape?

1. Why was Tashi taken by the bandits?

Because the bandit's wife thought he reminded her of her son
Anna and Sunny St Lukes Rappers

Because it reminded them of their son.
Lauren Glen Katherine Rappers

Tash was taken by the bandits because he looked their son. Tashi didn't want to stay with the bandits, he wanted them to let him go.

2. Why did Tashi sing like a crow and fill the hairbrush with thistles and burrs?

So they would let him go because he wasn't like their son
Sunny and Anna, Mitchell and Brendan, St Lukes Rappers

3. In the picture on p44, the bandits are all huddled together, whispering.  What do you think they are saying to each other?

The robbers began to whisper about the Bandit wife.
