The
Kraken written
by Gary Crew and illustrated by Marc McBride, is about the adventures of a
blind boy, his sister, and a terrible creature called the Kraken. It
is a very imaginative whimsical book for those who like monsters and
fairy-tales. What I found
very interesting in this book was that things happen that you wouldn’t
expect to happen. The format of the book was fairly straight forward,
average sized text, nothing really unusual that way, although the content
and wonderful detailed illustrations added to the book. I found the story and the illustrations very interesting and enjoyable. It is a book that is best when you take your time to read slowly and really look into the illustrations, the more you look, the more you find. I would recommend this book for 8 to 12 year olds.
