Max is the child of two flying superheroes and everyone expects that Max
will fly at a very early age. They are disappointed when all Max's efforts
to fly fail. He still cannot fly at all until the day he he sees a baby
bird falling out of its nest. Then his life is changed forever.
The students from 1O at Denistone East PS have recently read Max in class. They were eager to hear it again in the Library. This is the class response to questions about the book. Who is your favourite character, and why do you like the character? What are the best parts of the story? Which illustrations do you like the best? Yr 1 Sydney |

Max is about a little superhero who is
learning to fly. His family are all superheroes. Max doesn't fly
until he is older.Doing a good deed helped him to fly.
Max likes to save animals.
We think the motto of the story is 'even
though people don't do great things it doesn't mean they are not
heroes.'
The book is about that everyone is
different. It doesn't matter if you are a superhero or not you can
still do great things.
We really liked the story because if was fun
and interesting. Bob Graham uses good words.
The pictures are really bright and colourful
and they are nice and big and clear.
We also liked the story because it has
superheroes in it.
We think the story is most suitable for
Kindergarten to year 4 but we are sure everyone, even adults, would like
to read the story. Our teacher librarian, Mrs. Young loved the story
too.
It is a great kids book because it made us
happy!

'Max' is a fun and enjoyable book. It
is about a little boy from a superhero family. Max begins to fly
by doing a small deed. He then continues to do good deeds. His mum
says that it is not important that Max becomes a legendary
superhero, she calls him a 'Small Hero'.
The book has excellent pictures and text. the
pictures are large, bright and colourful. The text is appropriate for
the intended audience which is younger readers.
The story is great for little kids because
it is simple and easy to understand.
There are good messages for the reader
throughout the story. One messge is that 'we can all be
different' and another is that 'you can do things when
you are ready not when others expect you to.'
The pictures are funny and the idea for the
story is interesting.
We, Year 5, all enjoyed the story even
though it is for younger children.
Max is so cute!!!
