The Shore Beyond is a book about a girl, Clara, who wants more in life than just to row a boat across a lake with her father.  She makes a boat with her friend Miriam and they travel down the river, and then later to the sea. Miriam leaves her but Clara continues on. She eventually meets a fisherman and she learns that when she grows up, she may, one day, reach The Shore Beyond.

The moral of this story would be ‘You can achieve your goals.’ and this book would teach young children just that. It offers great pictures that would keep the child amused, and a great storyline that would keep the parent amused. The author and illustrator should be proud of this book!

I would recommend this book for children aged 5 – 12 years old.
