The
Day My Bum Went Psycho is
a story about a boy and his bum. When Zack Freeman’s bum goes psycho, he
is taken on a wild ride across the Great Windy Desert, through the Brown
Forest, and deep into the heart of a giant bumcano, to fight the biggest,
ugliest, pimpliest bum ever. I loved this book. It is easy to read, and is set in 14 point. It is NOT based on a true story, no matter what the cover says, and it has a pretty good story line. It is based around a boy called Zack Freeman, whose bum keeps detaching itself from its usual position, and getting into trouble around town. It is a comedy, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes to read funny books. I think it would appeal to anyone over the age of about seven or eight, although I think some people may not like the constant plays on the word bum. This book has the sort of humour that would appeal to most children, and probably most adults as well. It is the sort of book that you would read to yourself, and has no pictures in it. All in all it is a pretty good book. Bumtastic. Bryan, aged 14, Canberra, ACT |

This story begins with Zack’s bum jumping out his
window. He has to put on his clothes
quickly because it was the middle of the night and run outside and chase
after it. Outside he
discovers a cat attacking his bum but after a minute his bum gases the
cat. Zack runs after his bum
only to come to oval where he sees millions of bums and all of them start
to move towards a stand with one particular on it.
There Zack sees his bum organising all the bums to rebel.
A bumcatcher comes to try and catch all the runaway bums but there
are too many of them. I thought the book was funny and I would recommend it
to people who like to read books which are funny or set in a different
world. Dany,

When
Zack tried out for the third time at bum-fighting school he and his family
knew he wasn’t born to be a bum-fighter. But he proved himself wrong.
Zack’s bum had always been psycho and after he found out about the evil
scheme his bum was behind he knew he had to do something. The
bums were sick and tired of doing all the dirty work for humans. They were
plotting THE REVOLUTION OF THE BUMS. The plot involved REARRANGEMENT,
which meant replacing the bums where they rightfully belonged, the head.
They were planning to coax all the bums in the world to form one and make
a massive bumcano ( a volcano made out of bums). He
went searching for his bum, on his adventure he was kidnapped and bought
down into the sewers where he met the prince bum, where a girl called
Eleanor came to save him, Eleanor was the daughter of Silas Sterne, the
greatest bum-fighter to ever walk the planet. Zack was a big fan of Silas
Sterne. After meeting the B-team, a team of three bum fighters made up of
the kisser who gave the kiss of death to the bums, the smacker who would
smack them till they exploded into a great pile of brown poo and the
kicker who would kick the bums. With them he had numerous adventures, such
as crossing the large desert, fighting the smelliest bum that ever lived,
crossing the sea of bums where all sorts of amazing bum creatures lived
and conquering the Great White Bum. This
book belongs to thriller and adventure. This book was very amusing.
Imagine being in the same world you live in now but with bums in the way.
It was very imaginative. The author gave a clear picture to my mind of the
setting, it seemed so real it gave the possibility of it one day to
happening to our world. It was very clever how they go out of the most
difficult situations, in the most unthought of way as possible.
I think people from 11 and onwards should read this, the theme may
be hard to understand for little kids. Rosie,

This book was called The Day my Bum went Psycho and although it’s a weird title, it explains what the book is about. Andy Griffiths wrote The Day my Bum went Psycho, he is a very good author of comedy, and also in the imaginative category. He has also written Just Tricking, Just Annoying, Just Stupid and Just Crazy, which I have also read and liked a lot. The book The Day my Bum went Psycho, is all about bums! For example, the Great White Bum which glows white, a lot whiter than you think. The Stenchgantor (also known as the Great Unwiped Bum) lives in the Brown Forrest - once called the Black Forrest - but since Stenchgantor has lived there, there is nothing but a thick brown fog in the Forrest. It is such a thick fog it completely disorientates anyone unfortunate enough to be caught in it. Stink-bogs also appear in the Brown Forrest looking like solid ground - but they are actually areas of smelly quicksand (UGH!). The main character in this story is Zack Freeman – a kid who has a run-away bum that is psycho. There is also Eleanor Sterne, who is the daughter of a famous bum catcher, Silas Sterne. She is wacky, funny, smart and witty and simply loves the word “idiot”. There is also the B-Team – they’re made up of Kicker, a person who kicks bums to death, Smacker, who smacks bums to death and Kisser, who, as you can guess, kisses bums to death (YUK!). This book was especially funny because it had a lot of imaginative characters and creations. I think this book was really good to read and it was easy to read. This book is suitable for all ages because it is very interesting (my mum even read it!). It uses very low level, coarse language (it has a lot of the words “idiot” and “bum” in it). I thought it was very funny, as it didn’t have the usual personalities, characters and story lines. Melissa,
