A Deluge of Information
Students today are often overwhelmed by information and by their need to handle it. As Royce (1999) observes "Throughout history the trend has been towards faster and faster production of information, faster transmission of information, more compact storage of information, but our capacity to read and understand information remains constant."

We all confront the seemingly limitless torrent of information available through the Internet but today's students must have effective strategies for handling such a flood.

As a teacher you may choose to sift and sort the information for your students and this is certainly the most expedient method.  Sites such as the Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators may make your job easier BUT at some time your students need to learn the skills to find and evaluate information on the Web for themselves.
