Evaluating Web Sites
To evaluate Web sites you and your students need to become very familiar with different parts of a web site as well as knowing what sort of information can be found where.
By yourself or in a group complete the following activities which have been adapted from Birks, J. & Hunt, F. (2003) 'Hands-On Information Literacy Activities'  and reproduced here with permission from the authors.  NB. Printable versions require Adobe Acrobat.

  •  Brainstorm 4 or 5 criteria you think are important for evaluating a Web site
  •  Discuss specific clues you might look for to judge each criteria
  •  Adapt this exercise to create an activity suitable for your teaching/learning context
