Internet and World Wide Web

The Internet is simply a network of networks, linking computers to computers.
The World Wide Web (WWW) is what  allows us to develop, publish and view documents which include text, graphics, animation, audio and video. We view these documents on our computer, through a browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.
These documents are created using a programming language called HTML (HyperText Mark up Language) which also makes hypertext possible.
Hypertext is the ability to click on various parts of a site (text, buttons and graphics) which will then transport us to another part of the site or another site altogether. It is this feature that makes it a unique and very powerful tool.  The WWW via the Internet allows us to access Web sites , Search Engines and Online Databases.
