Federation Projects
This project is about getting children to
reflect on the past and then to record what they believe people in 100 years
time would like to know about their lives today. It is also about using moving
images to record their stories and about this being of value to society in
general! Hence the material will be conserved by the Qld Museum as
part of their social history collection and will be displayed in their Centenary of Federation Exhibition
next year. They will also be a documentary
on Channel 7. That will have info for teachers
and will have a special area for children to explore too with guidelines
on how to go about their project, how to write the script and tips
for production.
"The Parliamentary Education Office invites
final year primary classes in the
year 2000 to research the
life and career of their first Members and Senators. Students' work will be published on our website to
celebrate the Centenary of Federation. This project
encourages students to use their research skills through investigation,
communication and participation and to present their findings in
a creative and dynamic way, using both text and illustrations, culminating
in a First Parliament
Website for the Centenary of Federation. We are committed to
making sure this is a
productive and enjoyable activity for you and your class and will support
you every step of the
way with information, practical strategies, ideas and advice."
