Whales have lungs and must come to the surface to breathe. They have nostrils called blowholes. The Southern Right Whale has two nostrils or blowholes. Fish have gills and breathe under the water.

Whales
do not swim like fish. Whales have horizontal tail flukes that move up and
down to move them through the water.
Fish swim by moving their tails from side to side.
Southern
right whale calves are born. After they are born the calves drink thick, rich
milk, from their mothers. Whales
are warm-blooded, they
feed
milk to their young and they need to breathe air.
Fish lay eggs. The eggs hatch into fingerlings and grow into fish.

The Southern Right Whales are baleen whales and do not have teeth, they eat krill and other small fish.
Whales
and fish live in the sea.
The whales
spend the summer months feeding in waters near Antarctica. They migrate to the Southern Australian coastline to court, mate and have
their babies in shallow inshore waters.
They visit the waters near Victor Harbor in the months of May to October.
