The World
Wide Web (WWW) offers educators access to electronic resources that can
be used in the classroom. The WWW can provide access to lesson plans, K-12
classroom projects, content information, educational research, libraries,
and databases.
"Access to these resources
brings the world to you.
It extends the classroom walls
and adds resources to your library."
The WWW
can provide on-line databases and directed classroom activities for students.
Examples include:
-
Collect weather data and view weather
maps from any state or part of the world.
-
Access current events by reading on-line
newspapers or visiting CNN's Web site.
-
View pictures of our Solar System from
the Hubble Telescope or Galileo.
-
Take a virtual field trip and view paintings
at the Louvre in France.
-
Perform model simulations that are impractical
for the classroom.
-
Watch video clips of historic events.
