War websites

Home | Up

Teacher's Notes: This is a 'building the field' type task. I created it for a unit on representations of war (Picture book: Memorial, Crew and Tan). Useful for increasing or reviewing background knowledge if you are looking at War poetry. It would also work well with a close study of films such as Gallipoli or play study (Breaker Morant). Print out the website analysis questions ahead of time and divide the class into teams of three. You can set up a word document with a table for comparison to encourage students to use technology. You might even use a wiki here?

The Task

Evaluate the reliability of three websites on the war in Gallipoli.

First

Read the Website analysis questions.

Then

Use the Website analysis questions to evaluate the following websites. Each student does one site and then works in a team of three to complete a comparison table. Divide the sites up between your team members.

Write a Reflection

Which is the more reliable site? Explain your decision using evidence from the table.

Write 200 words.
