The Journey

Home | Up

Teacher's Notes: The Journey is an Area of Study. In the NSW Stage 6 syllabus, an Area of Study is described as ' the exploration of a concept that affects our perceptions of ourselves and our world.' Students explore the concept of The Journey by analysing a range of texts and considering the composers perspectives on journeys. They compose their own texts and present their own coherently integrated interpretation of the concept.

Learning Objectives:

  • describe ideas about The Journey explored in at least three texts.
  • explain perspectives on The Journey represented in at least three texts.
  • analyse the ways language is used to convey ideas about The Journey.
  • compose narratives that represent ideas about The Journey.
  • compare and contrast different representations of The Journey in at least three texts.

Note to students: The Word documents below are some of the texts and tasks we will be studying in class and are printed in your Journey booklets. Some of the material in the booklet could not be reproduced here. Your exam in Week 9 term 3 will be on The Journey and is modeled on HSC Area of Study exams.
