                                       The Mad Scientist and Xarco

[By Dylan, Zach & Daniel P, 234 Heysen, Humpty Doo, NT]
Once upon a time, there was a mad scientist. He was building a metal dragon and he sent it to destroy the world. The dragon was very strong and powerful.

He was shiny grey steel with knife sharp teeth and nuts and bolts for eyes. He had dagger like claws on his feet and hands and breathed fire through his furnace mouth.

Then he flew to Antarctica and melted all the ice. Next he flew to Darwin. The melted ice made the sea rise up.
He needed a rest.
All of the sea animals, like penguins, seals and leopard seals, had to swim away from the Antarctica.

[By Meredith Costain, Author]
The sea animals swam towards Tasmania. But it too was covered in water! Feverishly, they struggled on to the mainland. The dragon sensed them coming. What a nice meal they will make, he laughed to himself. He would gobble them all up with his shiny metal jaws. But he hadn't counted on Xarco, Giant Protector of Sea Creatures, waiting for him in the next cove.

[By Amber, Tamykah & Rebekah, 234 Heysen, Humpty Doo, NT]
The dragon went into the next cove because he saw all of the sea creatures heading for it. Xarco waited for the right moment. He made the sea water rise and bubble, rise and boil. He was going to protect the sea creatures no matter what. Suddenly, the dragon was covered in this boiling, bubbling water. Being made out of metal, he rusted up instantly, never to be seen again.
Only now can you hear the stories of the old world lore. Listen carefully each and every one of you!
